Before soaps were created, Ancient Romans utilized various raw materials of the land for washing & perfuming the body. Often a mixture of clay & oils was applied with a flat curved tool called a strigil. This was a process, everything from the sourcing of materials, to the mixing of them, to the actual application. By doing this, it showed great devotion to the gods they honored, resulting in a tether of scent between them. The most common raw materials used for oils/ointments were roses, pomegranates, lavender, quinces, grapes, rosemary, basil, bay laurel, myrtle, & olive trees. The most precious raw materials often acquired only by the rich were cinnamon & myrrh.

Rose Kaolin Clay: Representing primordial love & a connection to the Earth, Rose Kaolin Clay embraces femininity & self-nourishment. It also helps to remove skin impurities, deeply cleansing & soothing skin. Used as a face mask, it can help to remove dirt & oil, cleansing, tightening, & brightening skin tone.

Coconut Milk Powder: Representing nurture, growth, spirituality, & purity, Coconut Milk is a Vegan alternative to Goat Milk which was widely used by the Ancient Romans & has direct associations with Lupercalia. It symbolizes sacrifice, as a goat was often sacrificed by the Ancient Romans & Goat Milk was often used to bless & anoint ritual tools & participants.

Honey Powder: Representing a "live embalming", opening one up to life & energy, longevity & immortality. Honey Powder is a hydrating cleanser & exfoliate that helps to fight signs of aging.

Inspired by the Goddess Lupercus, who was celebrated at Lupercalia for fertility, good harvest, & abundance, this perfume oil incorporates scents from raw materials often used by the Ancient Romans to attract love, luck, lust, & abundance.

This scent is very herbacious & floral with notes of citrus.

-TELINUM FRAGRANCE BALM

Telinum was a greasy balm that was created with a mixture of an emollient (like, beeswax) & other oils derived from raw materials, particularly Fenugreek, Sweet Clover, & Marjoram. This was also said to be Caesar’s favorite scent to wear.

Our take on Telinum is a gender neutral fragrance balm that is skin safe & can be applied on the neck, wrists, or anywhere else externally. This balm is hardened with beeswax for a long lasting fragrance balm. Just run your index finger into it lightly for a light scent or you can apply more pressure to release more balm & more scent. The scent is very alluring with sweet sugary notes, fruits, floras, & herbs. The more you use it, the more fragrant it will become!

This balm contains:

Organic Beeswax: Beeswax itself was used for its binding properties as a poultice, emollient, skincare & healing, & embalming the dead.

Organic Grape Seed Oil: (carrier oil base) Representing the grapes that were utilized for their medicinal, culinary, & fragrant qualities. Grape seed oil is also a non-greasy carrier oil for safe application.
